Young australian half with some NRL experience. Watching his highlights he looks to have all the attributes you would want in a half, but apart from that, really struggling to find any comment about him whatsoever.. which is worrying. Going to have to trust Woolford on this one, as looks like noone in NRL was interested when he was realeased so he has reluctantly come to England to try his luck. Seems like a punt, and certainly not Woolford's first option which was definitely Hastings, but could come good over here as other Aussies who have come with no rep have done well in the past.

Definitely a replacement for Brough with his kicking game, which i welcome. Would love us to sign Sneyd as well as one poster speculated we could and i'd be very optomistic about the future, but if Brough is going to Wakefield as has been widely reported would be a big change in the halves and take some time to adjust.

He had 2 or 3 good games when he got a chance at Bulldogs in 2017 but then was poor - not sure if that was down to Des Haslers coaching! 2018 he started off as first choice at Bulldogs but was dropped and Bulldogs played a couple of young kids instead. Hard to judge him in 2018 as Bulldogs have become a basket case of a club. He looked to have all the required skills but maybe just confidence issues - he didn't actually shine in NSW cup and no other NRL club was interested in him. Although Woolford seemed to get Gaskell performing so it might work out for you.

Having watched the youtube highlights he looks decent (although so did Shannon Wakeman)!
Looks to have a good short kicking game which I feel we have been lacking for a while now.
Others saying he's nothing special and has been poor in games, this might be that the forwards were getting dominated - there are very few half backs that stand out when they are on the back foot.
Shame it seems that Danny is leaving, but I have confidence in Simon Woolford and hopefully he can get a good half back partnership going...

its a punt! musty have something to have played half back in the nrl

sounds like an organiser and has a kicking game which we will need now brough is going, but we still need a goal kicker? gaskell maybe

woolford will know frawley from his time at canberra.

some on here have been begging for us to sign a new half back from the nrl so now we have it, lets hope it works out!! its a new era

brough will go down as a legend at the club but its time to move on

Everyone has been saying for the past couple of years that the club need be thinking beyond Danny Brough. Seems to me that the club have now done something about it by signing Matt Frawley. Reality is we are not going to sign a top proven Australian half back, however Woolford must see a lot of potential in this guy. I for one trust his judgement.
Broughy has been a great player for the Giants and I'm sorry to see him go, if that is what is going to happen. If Wakey have offered him a 2 year contract and/or a coaching role then who can blame him for leaving and I wish him well.

I have been one of those wanting to see Brough replaced and i'm glad that appears to be happening sooner rather than later. He has been the best player i have seen personally in a C&G shirt since starting to watch Fartown when Murphy took over, and many of my best memories are of him tearing defences to pieces with his kicking game, or earlier in career blistering pace and a sidestep. In the last couple of years however, i have watched him berate younger players for the slightest mistake whilst 'leading by example' by getting himself sin binned because he can't hold his temper. He is an ultimate competitor who gives 100% everytime he takes the field, but i'm glad we aren't keeping him in a coaching capacity as i don't think he has the temperament for it. Good luck at Wakefield, and thanks for the commitment and effort you have shown over the years

Brett Hodgson and Brandon Costin are also up there. But only for a year or 2. Broughy has been a top player for us for number of years.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rnthKZXhNuI Looks to have a good structured style of play; will slot in well as the leading half.
