Was Broughy rested or injured for the second half today. Hopefully the first. Does anyone know.

He was limping badly after last week's game, so perhaps a precaution.

His try first half was absolutely brilliant, certainly showing no signs of being injured from last week.

I thought he was being rested second half with the score 30-6 at HT, Lunt was saved for most of the second half too.

EDIT: confirmed by PA's post match comments, he says with a 30-6 lead he rested Broughy second half with him being a key player.

I think Andersons squad management this year could be the difference, people will say widnes came back and to be fair they gave it a good shot, But if we can win games in the first half and rest key players like that I would gladkly sacrifice abigger points difference. I now have total trust in the coaching staff, I wasnt too sure about comments they were making about ukuma at first but now we're starting to see what he can do and the way he made bailey back off like a girl last saturday was great to see. If brough and lunt and robbo stay fit we have got a real chance with the squad this year s

he was rested, game was won at half time, no point risking injuries especially on that pitch.
good call by baloo in the end.

offthecuff, thanks, but your boys came back strong in the 2nd half and never gave up, credit to that.
as I said on another thread I thought the ref was abysmal for both sides which I think affected the game slightly which to me is wrong.

But that's the problem though isn't it, he's a linesman really, and I'm not sure he's one of the best at that, but keeps popping up with a whistle. Are we so lacking in proper referee's and if so what can be done about it? It seems Mr Cummins has left us in a much worse position than when he took over let's just hope S Ganson can do better. One thing that really needs clamping down on is this football diving that seems to be creeping into our sport. I taped the Wire v Hull game last night and Waterhouse's dive near the end was a typical example and I believe warrants a yellow card to stamp it out.

the thing that struck me last night was that there were instances in the first half where he penalised widnes for not playing ball correctly , holding on to the tackler trying to milk a penalty, but then in the 2nd half he did the opposite and penalised us when it was the same thing happening.
all we want is consistency, the only thing I can say about mr hicks is that he was consistently poor for both sides.

He also instantly ruled out Murphy's 'try' in the corner. At the very least it was worth chatting with his other two officials. [Personally I thought it was a try.]
