Post subject:  Fans MOM table

I mentioned on here a few weeks ago about a group of fans, as a point of discussion, scoring a man of the match on a 3 points system with the runner up receiving 2 and the third place receiving 1 for each match
I`m sure they wont mind me publishing the results
At the end of the season this is the final table and whilst I have my own views on some of the final placings it is a democratic consensus from those involved

However I thought it might be interesting to see what others posters think !

22 L.Robinson
22 B.Hodgson
15 A.Raleigh
15 S.Moore
14 K.Mason
12 E.Crabtree
12 D.Kirmond
12 L.Cudjoe
11 S.Lunt
9 D.Faiumu
8 L.Fulton
7 K.Brown
5 D.Hodgson
5 S.Wild
4 D.Sculthorpe
3 D. Griffin
3 P.Whatuira
2 S.Finnigan
2 M.Lawrence

Without commenting on the obvious Luke Robinson troll. I suppose Hodgson's placing and to a certain extent, that of Andy Raleigh probably shows how you shouldn't take too much notice of fan polls.

To be fair Luke will rank high because he has played many more games that any other player in the team.

Or that with the amount of injuries Andy had, how valuble to the side is he when fit?? Our best 2nd row for mine as ive said before

Indeed, when Raleigh is fit he is our best 2nd row, and imo should have been in the train on squad for England.

Robbo has has a massive influence on our games this season, obviously as has Hodgy.

I know Hodgy won the MoS but he doesnt half like throwing the ball into touch. Mind, Robbo likes keeping hold of it a bit too much...I think from my point of view in the stands, equal billing for them is probably fair.

The table shows us how a very small number of fans - who are likely to attend far fewer away games -using a 3 point scale rate players. It is an entertainment for the participants.

As a means of understanding rugby ability etc it is amusing. Looking at the top the equating of Robbo with BH is hilarious. At the bottom it would appear that Jacko and Bruno - who have played many games - are not much kop. Or maybe Larne Patrick has no real future at the Giants.

you are right, it is a bit of fun and not an accurate measure.

The players who got points had an eyecatching (positive) impact in the games they were in, but as individuals not team players.

Take Wild for example, 5 points but probably the first name on the teamsheet for many of us.

I dont know what your point is really MG to be honest, apart from griping

For clarification - the number of fans who take part -whatever their numbers - are avid supporters - home and away and have been for many years
They consequently vote on the games they attend -which is a high percentage - and it is not based on hearsay or newspaper reports
HTH

It is a "pastime" and point of discussion and I agree that its worth/ value is open to question

However --the one thing it is is a democratic opinion of all who take part - and as such I would offer is as credible as the press (as a group) or Stevo(as an individual) voting similarly for MOM

The post was a request for other posters opinion - either on the way it is carried out --or the results
Yours are duly noted
