Post subject: | 7's scheme |
Does anyone know why the Giants have pulled out of this years '7's scheme' which has been so successful over the last four or five years ?????? This year the football club are going it alone and i can't help thinking that its a very short-sighted decision by the Giants to lose sizeable influx of new fans to the club, having had a season ticket to the the Galph this year it's been fab to see loads of young kids wearing the Claret & Gold and even more so out and about in town.... these kids are tomorrows fans and the club needs to keep the emphasis on the future which has upto now brought them vastly increased crowds and the recent 'club of the year' award. If they want the '10000+' tick for the next franchise then keep the school kids interested as well as selling corporate and dishing out freebies to big sponsors !!!!! |

Didn't realise they had. Is this confirmed by the club? If so I must admit it's a little disappointing. |

Have you thought of asking on the Wigan board? Have they pulled out of the 7's? Are you sure? |

It would appear that the 7's scheme no longer has the Giants connected to it! I would have to speak to Rachel about this as it's not been officially confirmed by the Giants!! It may've been in the Town matchday programme as it's still going on! But thinking back last time I spoke to Rachel she did mention things could be changing in relation to this scheme but didn't elaborate exactly what!! |

I suppose with us letting kids in free there's an argument to say that we are borderline paying them to come if we give them shirts as well. |

It was mentioned in one of the press releases a while back i read it on the Giants website. Whilst i thought at the time it was shortsighted the club would have done the maths and realised it was not worth it for them. |

if true this is very short sighted of the club as the kids are the future of this club. yes it is a cost to the club but if they come to a match they bring a adult. after the most succesfull season in the modern era this is the time to get the kids involved and look after them. |

While the short term economics might not be good in the long term this must be a money maker. Giving away free season tickets for Kids is great but the 7's scheme gets new blood interested. My group all started with the 7's scheme and this year will be buying 11 season tickets between us. |

When you realise what the cost price of a shirt is then it will pay for itself if the said child takes just one adult to one game....... Get the Claret & Gold shirts out there |

It does seem an odd decision. It was a popular scheme, but the worst thing for Fartown is that if Town are still doing it then the next generation of potential fans are going to be footie fans first again. |
