Huddersfield Giants Academy Player of the Year Elliot Hodgson has signed a three-year full time deal with the Club after impressing in the lower Huddersfield Giants Academy Player of the Year Elliot Hodgson has signed a three-year full time deal with the Club after impressing in the lower grades this year.

The 18 year old made his first grade debut earlier in the year against St Helens and scooped the Sky Man of the Match Award in an assured display.

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented:

“Everyone at the club is delighted for Elliot as promoting a local youngster into the full time squad and giving him an opportunity is a great feeling for everyone concerned. We consistently promote ourselves as a club that provides opportunities for young players and Elliot joins Alex Brown in moving into the first grade environment next year. How he grasps his chance is down to him but he has great coaches to work with and, of course, Brett Hodgson to help along the way too. I am sure that this announcement will be greeted with delight by our supporters and we will all look forward to seeing him progress in the claret and gold over the next three years."

Head Coach Nathan Brown was pleased to tie another promising junior up to the Club:

“It is exciting for the Club and for Elliot. To have one of the local players come through is always a bonus. Elliot has a long way to go before he becomes a Super League player but as he has shown in his one and only appearance he has definitely got the ability. In the short time I have been here he has definitely shown the work ethic and the ability to want to take things on board and learn. All things being equal he is a player that has a great attitude and if he keeps working hard he could become a long term player at this Club.”

Elliot Hodgson was delighted to sign a full time deal with the Giants:

“This is fantastic news. It has always been my dream to play in Super League and I can’t wait to start full time training. I got my first taste of engage Super League action at Saints last month and loved every minute of it. It gave me a lot of confidence and I can’t wait to get more experience at that level.”
