Quote:Should this year’s Carnegie Challenge Cup Final between Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves at Wembley end in a draw then Bolton’s Reebok Stadium will host the replay on Tuesday 8 September, kick off 7.05pm.

Following two pulsating semi-finals, this year’s Wembley final on Saturday August 29 is promising to be a classic between two evenly matched sides, so much so that the RFL’s official bookmaker William Hill is finding it difficult to separate both sides.

Warrington, who have not won at Wembley since 1974, start as slight favourites, odd-on at 8/11 whilst William Hill are offering even money on Huddersfield winning their first Carnegie Challenge Cup since 1953.

If the scores are tied after 80 minutes at Wembley, then the game will go straight to a replay which will be played 10 days later and screened live on BBC 2.

Sally Bolton, the RFL’s Director of Events and Projects, said: “Normally we don’t announce the replay venue until after we’ve had a drawn final. However, considering how close and competitive the games have been this year in both the league and the Carnegie Challenge Cup the likelihood of this game ending in a tie is quite high.

“On paper the final looks too close to call and after having a draw in the quarter finals we felt it appropriate to let supporters know the date and venue of a potential replay as early as possible.”

In the event that the replay ends in a draw after 80 minutes then the game will be decided by golden point.

Tickets for the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley on Saturday 29 August are selling extremely well with Warrington selling a record 10,000 in the first day of sales.

Prices start from £21 and can be purchased from both finalists and also the RFL Ticket Office on 0844 856 11 13 or by www.carnegiechallengecup.co.uk

No, and nor should they.

Plus the biggest attendance for ANY rl game (and IIRC any sporting event in the UK) was a challenge cup replay.

i think the Final should be settled in the 80 minutes either in the original game or in a replay not extra time or golden point !!

Do they do golden point in the semi finals should a draw happen??

Would have thought golden point would have been a better plan. A mid week evening game is not likely to get the best crowd even for a replay of the cup. Besides isnt the Reebok a similar crowd capacity to ours??

I hate the Reebok - went to an international a few years ago - paid in advance for parking and then they went and allowed people to park down the aisles so those parked in the official spaces could not get out until those who were parked in front and behind had moved! Had to wait an hour and a half for those cars to start moving...always vowed never to go there again!

At least you'll be able to say we've been in 2 finals this year, where as we'll have 3 with the SL Grand Final
Not sure on the capacity of the Reebok stadium but i wouldn't have thought it would be big enough.

Reebok is 28,000 capacity

Hopefully will be irrelevant as it will be won on the day :D

It's just another way of making money.

Hardly fair on the fans who are pumping in over £2million for the final at Wembley, just for match tickets.

A final should mean that, final, the end of the competition. Yes, the record attendance was set in a CC final replay, but this is what we call progress.

Forget golden point, it should be golden try to decide the winner after 80 minutes. That would be quite possibly the most intense and exciting period of rugby possible.

Union is played by people who close airports after a bit of snow, League is played by people who would go and have a snowball fight with a 747

I voted for a punch up between Mason and Morley.

That'd be no use if Wigan got to a final though. they'd choose Fielden and it'd be over in one punch
