why do huddersfield bother....the acadamy team is just a team within a team.no link between 1st team reserves or acadamy.they don't play at same ground,they never train together,there is no interaction between any team.the players don't feel like they play for huddersfield there's no pride.any other super league and come to mention it nfl team have some kind of inter-action but not the giants.just check the web site and compare it with any club site ANY, even ameture you will see nothing apart from the 1st team.they pay 10's of grands to any player but offer 6k to young players as a full time contract.get your head out of your ar**e |

why do any team bother? Where did the academy finish last year? Was it in the semi final against Saints who played Wigan in the final the week? They are never going to play on the Galpharm unless its a final. The academy games get a good attendance at the YM. I used to go a few years ago when there was about 20 people max. We have a strong academy but you have to remember that because of our situation we have alot of reserves out on loan, 5 at the last count. So lats are stepping up into the reserves and thus moving on. Tommy Griffiths played for Donny today. Don't get disheartened looking at the result of one sub-section of the club against the top team this season. |

The academy players are youngsters who usually attend college of some kind and are not full time as such or at least that is what I thought happened. They are getting a lot more in their pocket than the average 17 year old out in the job market. If they commit themselves to the cause and prove they are worthy of the 10s of grands as you put it then they will get offered such a contract in due course. Its called promotion isnt it? Its like an apprenticeship - paid a pittence and once qualified you can demand a higher rate of pay?? That aside is it really necessary for the end comment? |
