Went down 64-0 today at Wakey, they never got up to speed and suffered in the heat but they did not throw the towel in at any point. |

It's a pity that most of our academy players are in the reserve team since we have so many good players out on loan at lower league clubs Lopag at Swinton Griffiths at Doncaster McGilvary at Batley Hemmingway at Leigh Crowther at Gatehead and Korkidas at Wakefield |

Although the best side won yesterday and deserve their spot neat the summit i hope you also saw the score against our Academy this weekend. Men against boys i'm afraid, with all the talk of comings and goings i would hope the Giants have one eye on the state of the Academy currently. Before you all start please keep this thread as an Academy thread not a "we bet you yesterday", "where are you in superleague" blah blah !! |

Yes, I think if you had bothered to look instead of a pretty pathetic attempt at trolling you would have found it. |

Last season our academy made the play offs and were eventually nipped by Cas on the way to the GF. That side was then pretty much totally overhauled bar one or two exceptions as most of them moved up to the reserves. This season our academy is a very young and inexperienced side and are much smaller than many other sides. We will, hoever, be much better for the experience of this season and will hopefully do much better next year. We need to find the right blend of 1st year, second year lads etc as the likes of Wigan, Saints, Cas etc seem to manage so we are more consistent. This will come though, we've had a major investment in the academy staff etc the last off-season and it WILL improve. Note though that our reserves aren't doing too bad this time and they have lots of young lads in. And many of our better academy lads have been playing in the reserves too, thus weakening our academy side. Still, let's not let these things get in the way of a dig. |

Before you all start please keep this thread as an Academy thread not a "we bet you yesterday", "where are you in superleague" blah blah !! I do not think we will worry so much. After all, the average age of a SL debut is 21/22. Much happens between 17/18 and 21/22. (SL acknowledge this by going to U20s). So a better indication of our development may be our reserves - if they have some good U21 U22 type players. As it happens our reserves have several such players. Now, how are our young reserve team getting on? |
