I recently encountered a problem at the Huddersfield/Wakefield game at the Galpharm.
As some of you may know they were doing a special deal for "the emergency services". The ad was offering tickets at £10 adults and £5 concessions, so I phoned them up and asked how many tickets I could legitimately purchase, and was initially told that it only applied to the emergency service member, however when I asked why they were advertising tickets for concessions too, the "youth" in question checked the ad, and then told me that there was nothing to say I couldn't purchase more than one ticket, so then agreed that I could purchase 4 adults and 2 kids tickets, and that there was no need to pre-order them and that I could collect them on match day.
I duly phoned my brother in Knaresboro' and told him that I was able to purchase 4 discounted tickets, so they then agreed to come down as they weren't initially going to bother due to the cost involved.
On match day I went to the ticket office, and asked to purchase the agreed 6 tickets, only to be told that I could only purchase 1.
I again pointed out to the young lady on the desk the advert, and mentioned my phone call the day before, at which point she went away to seek clarification. She duly returned and confirmed that I could only purchase 1 ticket. I then asked why the ad included concessions, only to be told that it could apply to someone who is 60. I asked her how many 60 year old firefighters/ambulance drivers/police officers she knew, but she couldn't answer. Suffice to say that my brother and his family had to fork out money which they could not really afford, having been promised discounted tickets.
I have e-mailed Hudds, but have basically been called a liar, as "my version of events differs from the office staff" and they have since refused to answer my valid query to explain the situation !!
Rachel Chambers did initially reply, and allegedly spoke to Richard Thewliss, who offered me discounted tickets for the remainder of the season, "to retain and build upon the support that I have shown to the club", but when I pointed out that we are Wakefield fans, I have heard nothing since
All I want is clarification from the club, and ideally an apology for posting a mis-leading advert, and for being called a liar !!!
Is that too much to ask ???????????????

Yawn.

If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.

From what you say mate it sounds as thought you've had the sh*t end of the sitck and I would certainly hope the club, at the very least, apologise to you

Sing a song of Yorkshire, from the Humber to the Tees
Of cricket, rugby, beer, of pudding and of cheese
I know no other county where the land is quite so fine
England's lovely county. And I'm proud to call it mine

Where shining purple heather stretches far across the moor
And the lapwing's cry above me takes the place of traffic roar
And peace comes drifting gently, there's no place I'd rather be
Than this land of hills and valleys, from the Pennines to the sea

So when I've done my roaming, and when my step grows slow
When heart and mind assure me that the time has come to go
Then let me rest in Yorkshire, for its there I want to lie
'Neath sun and wind and heather... and a gleaming Yorkshire sky

He said/She said.

The club offered a compromise, you declined.

Why didnt you pre-pay for them?

Have you asked what "the office version of events was"

Maybe its a case of mistaken identity, or misunderstanding?

Or have you gone off on one by email?

I did offer to pre-pay but was told that it wasn't necessary as I could pay at the ticket office on match day !!

I have asked them to clarify the situation in a polite and diplomatic manner (seriously), but am still awaiting a reply almost a month later !!

Odd, get back in touch with the club, ask them how your version differs from "the office" version

Ultimately though, they wont refund you I suspect - but in any complaint its always worth mentioning how you would like to see the matter resolved.

Some cashier kid made a mistake and you should've paid for the tickets mate. That kid has probably lied about the incident to cover his own ass and is blissfully unaware of the fuss you're kicking up, hence the 'different version of events' remark. Richard Thewlis offered you some more tickets but you didn't want them. What is to clarify?
