I'd just like to say that whenever I go to games either home or away I usually hear something adverse about stewards. Today was exactly the opposite. I'm disabled and although mobile I'm not very and when we got to the ground our car park pass was for a car park at the far end of the ground. We politely asked the steward if he would let us in the near one as it probably wasn't going to get full and he kindly agreed. We were ushered to the ramp into the ground and after the game a steward, seeing my predicament allowed us to go round the scoreboard end of the ground to go up the slope instead of all the steps. Your stewards were all very kind, helpful and courteous and couldn't have been more helpful. We all have a go when they're bad so we should give them a rap when they're good. If anyone on here can pass my comments on to the people who employ these men I would be grateful, anf if any of the guys who helped me read this, thanks a million. Good luck for the rest of the season. Pugwash. |

I'm sure it will! Our stewards do get a lot of letters concerning their helpfullness and suprisingly not that many complaints. The only complaints they tend to get are on message boards such as this which is a way of venting their frustration so it is nice to hear some praise. I think I do know the stewards who helped so I will tell them of this! Thank You! |

Reminds me of when our Second Team played at Whitehaven in the 1980's. I was the only Huddersfield Barracudas Official at the game apart from coaching staff and was approached by the Whitehaven Secretary who had a police inspector with him. The copper told me that he had come to eject a man from the stand for persistantly swearing. I asked him who it was and he said "that little bloke there in the dug out". It was the second team coach Johnny Paterson. We had traveled up with only 13 men (again) and even had the physio Steve Cushing down as our only sub. Johnny used to get a bit heated and frustrated when we were losing (which was most of the time) and he used to let his Castleford language get the better of him. I managed to get the copper to let me deal with it and sat in the dug out with JP to keep him calm. Happy days. |
