Post subject:  Edinburgh experience

What a great weekend.
Stopped on a lovely caravan site, just 10 minutes drive from the park & ride. A £3 pound ticket let`s you hop on and off at any points in Edinburgh. We visited the Zoo on Saturday, and afterwards got the bus on to the next stop Murrayfield (drops you just outside the ground).
The friendly atmosphere between the fans is great, it is more like a carnival, as many fans are dressed in theme costumes.
Fans who wanted Beer, or food or both would not have been disappointed as they were all inside the stadium.
After the games a bus back to the Motorhome at the park and ride car park, or if so inclined a bus or walk into the city for entertainment.
Personally I went back to the site to put my feet up and partake of a wee dram, and get prepared for our match on Sunday.
The Huddersfield supporters were there in really good numbers, and more than the 1000 sold by the club. We were spread all round the ground, the RFL must have sold a good few to our fans.

Any of the supporters who poo-poo the Magic Weekend want to give it a go, I am sure they will have a change of heart, it really is something different, the banter is good and friendly, and value for money regarding the matches ( I can not understand some going up just for their own game, it is a festival of Rugby League ).

If we filled the stadium on both days we would help our own cause in promoting Rugby League in the media. Many a time Rugby League fans bring about the apathetic attitude in the press with our own response.
These type of events want looking at as a chance to get away for a long weekend or week making the Rugby part of it.

I know it is hard for some at the moment with the shortage of jobs and those out of work, and they have an excuse. But the rest might make an effort (you would enjoy it)

Could not agree more, tho' it would have been better in your seats than ours in the west (arctic) upper.
We had good value apartment in middle of city and met loads of fans throughout the centre as we made our way to the ground on both days. Evenings in various pubs gave more chats with fans and locals who, unlike Cardiff, were interested in the games. If as RFL state 6000 locals bought tickets to the games then I believe to ruturn next year will be even better.

Totally agree with all said, we stayed in Stirling (also a great place) and travelled in both days by train. Had a great time, anyone who didn't enjoy the Edinburgh experience must be very hard to please, like it's been said, a great turnout from Fartown fans and I hope many more go next year.

:D :D :D

I for one loved it and so too my 2 year old son! Never went near the west side where the Fan Zone was but Cobi found things to do on the east side in glorious sunshine!! Has the grass stains to prove it!! Do wish we'd found the fan zone sooner though!

Stayed in a lovely hotel in Charlestown on the estuary coast outside Dunfirmline! Will definately be looking into going again next year but I do love Edinburgh anyway so any excuse to visit for me!!

The only downside was the bus situation after the wigan saints match! the queue had lots of wiganers going to seton sands so when a bus did stop the queue heard it wasn't going to wherever but we only needed Princes street and after finally getting on a bus found that all the buses went there or close by so thanks you wiganers!

It was ok in the East Stand when the sun got round to the lower tier. But before it did it was bl**dy cold.
It was amazing the drop in temperature from Sat to Sun, but clapping the Giants helped the blood to flow through the fingers.

I have to say I had a fabulous time and the occasion was terrific, with all fans from all the clubs enjoying the occasion.

Will definately be going next season, only thing was wish it was a tad bit warmer, but with rain originally forecasted it turned alright on that score.

If you didn't go definately start saving for next year it is wonderful. :D
