Looking at the Wests Tigers web site it would seem Fulton was left out of the team in their last match and most of them seem convinced he is heading our way. He is a loose forward or second row by the looks of things and most of the fans believe he is pretty handy and whilst not the biggest lad has plenty of ball playing skills.
I am not sure if replacing Brown at stand off with a chap who is not tried and tested in this position would be the greatest idea.
Brown Identified the back row as a position of weakness,
Wild
Finnigan
Lolesi
Kirmond
Raleigh
Walsh
Add Fulton to this and it would seem we might well have too many never mind not enough.
Would most people like to see this signing or would they rather we hold out for a class number 6? Do we really need another back row?
"Thank god I have finally signed for a decent club"
I think KB has been very good at 6. Fulton offers good cover here and perhaps play there if a specific game plan requires it. So we have cover and Nathan has more options.
I think Walsh is agood reserve grade player and decent quality cover.
That leaves - with Fulton - 6 in the back row. usually you will have 4 in the 17 so just 2 left over. However raleigh offers cover at prop and jammer/Wild cover centre. This means we can rotate players acccording to game plan and still have quality. We can contemplate resting a player and know the cover is quality. Not something we have been used to.
Tomorrow we will start with a quality 17.
Not playing will be Jammer or Kirmond , Faiumu (probably), Crabtree , Cudjoe, McGilvray , 'Fulton(?)' etc. I have never seen anything like it.
i think KB has been good enough so far at 6 including catalans and the friendlys. fulton does not offer as much as KB will and i also think that are second rowers like raleigh, wild, finnigan, kirmond, jammer and walsh are all good enough to play in our sid at the super league level.
I'd say wait for now - I reckon we'd have to be desperately unlucky with injuries to have a second row crisis - seems to be a good amount of cover and as has been said we've quite a few lads in the squad who are comfortable in more than one position. On the flip side what is the chance of a quality 6 coming available in the near future?
He's just top notch, is Stephen Wild. When you consider he was actually off the field for a while in the second half on Sunday it's an even more remarkable effort.
If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.
