Post subject: | O/T Jogging Route |
Hi everyone I have been trying to plan a route to run a couple of times a week somewhere between 2 and 2.5 miles. I live on Firth Street so ideally need to start somewhere in the town centre. The route I initially mapped out was to start at The Aspley pub and run the length of St. Andrew's Road, turning right and running down Leeds Road, then turning right and running to the cinema, going past the cinema and the stadium and then running up the canal, back to Wakefield Road. I tried walking the canal part today but could only find a very short footpath that went from the stadium to the driving range. Am I missing something really obvious or is there no footpath? Also if anyone can suggest any routes it would be greatly appreciated! Trying to find somewhere that isn't purely running up and down main roads...! Cheers. |

You can get on the path via the car park to the Navigation on Wakey Rd. |

I've run around here for years. The canal path from the back of the Aspley will take you all the way to where it goes under Leeds road at the bottom of Whiteacre Street, Deigthon by the lights. If you turn up Whiteacre St, go over the railway you can pick up the cycle path on your left that takes you back towards town. This brings you out in Red Doles Road where if you go left will take you back to the canal. It's more than 2 miles but there are turn back points. The bit of path from the Stadium to the golf range is not the canal path, it's by the side of the River Colne. |

Go into the driving range carpark, and there is a footpath at the back of it which goes adjacent to the river. This path goes through the woods and eventually pops out next to the vets on Wakefield Road next to Carphone Warehouse and Pizza Hut. You would just have to turn right down Wakefield Road to complete your loop back to the Aspley. Walk the dog most weekends that way. |
