We did that through internal design with suspending 2 players, rather than being forced upon us through injury.

Other managers moaning about our style, usually happens when they know we are better defensively than anyone in the league, they fear us in that respect and will try and put pressure on the officials to police it harshly.

The latest one has a team who lead the penalty count so is hardly in a position to preach to others.

Do you think that was a wise move? I mean, I understand that rules are rules and all that, but was it worth the risk do you think?

My point on that issue was simply that Saints fans probably to a person conceded that we had been out coached and out played at the CC semi even though we had injuries as well as one or two on their first match back from injury (and thus pretty useless, as players normally are on their first match back after injury). Personally, I don't think it would have mattered who played and in what position last week, we would have beaten you simply because we used your own game against you, as you did against us in the semi, and didn't let you get your attack together.

I think on this occasion, Walters is simply playing the Aussie game of wind up because he has spoken before the match. Everyone else has spoken after it. But I do think that many coaches are not happy with the way the game is being played and I'm not entirely sure they are solely blaming Huddersfield, it's just that Huddersfield do best what many people (including many fans from many clubs) think is spoiling SL RL and that is a slower PTB/ruck. Does that make sense?

Yes I do in that it instills club discipline, we have said all season that our team is not full of superstars but work as a team and this shows to the team that no one is bigger than it and ill discipline is not taken lightly. The players concerned let, the club, the coach, themselves but most of all their teammates.

No I disagree this season has been one of the best championships for a long time for being wide open, anyone can beat anyone, rather than the usual suspects dominating the rest.

WOW ! Amazing comment by Walters. Didn't this guy play in the same team as Gordon Tallis ? And he has the cheek to complain about us. Ha Ha Ha.The Dragons are IMO the worst disciplined side to visit the Pharm this year.

Take more water with the Pernod Kevin, or visit Specsavers on Saturday morning before you leave.

Fair enough. Would you still have considered it a worthwhile risk if last weekend had been knock out time? I'm only asking because it just seems a bit like the club was shooting itself in the proverbial foot, assuming Moore and Mason have been productive players, anyway.

But it's taken a slower PTB to achieve that, and thus a slower pace of rugby league. Is that a good thing? Judging by what I read and what I hear (and not just from Saints fans, not by a long chalk), that isn't what a lot of fans want. What a lot of fans want is a faster, free-flowing game. Yes, good defence, but more flair and pace in attack. I think that is also what the coaches are complaining about. Maybe that will happen next season. I hope so anyway. (And that comment is not directed at Huddersfield in particular but to the SL as a whole)

I think it's a calculated risk by the club, one that has to be made taking into account the variables, had the same variables been in place bar the knockout one then we may have seen a different outcome, but then again would the players have made the same choices knowing we were at the knock out stage.

I'd love to see fast entertaining rugby across the whole of the super league, with clubs and fans enthused and entralled by the spectacle in front of them. This has to be taken in steps, the first thing is to even out the talent across the participants, then we need to see coaches deliver strong and fit teams that have a solid platform to build on (a very good defence), the final layer is then to inject pace and flair into the offense.

For me our club is at the second stage, NB will bring the third ingredient to the team next season, many will see what he's done together with the achievements at clubs like HKR and Cas where collectively we have mixed up the spoils.

When you watch the NRL it's generally a faster game with far more diversity across the clubs in terms of competitiveness, genuine excitement and expectation from their fan bases.

We have to generate more diverse competition across the clubs if we are to grow the sport, this season for me as been the first one where I am seeing the first shoots of this objective coming through.

tough.
if people want to see end to end points scoring, watch basketball.
there isn't a right or wrong way to play the game so some teams are succesful by throwing the ball around, some, like us are succesful at compressing defence and counter attacks.
why should we stop doing what were good at just becuae some fans want to see fast open flowing games with loads of points?

Bottom line for me is this...
Allowing this long lay on, which Hudds are really good at but all teams do, is spoiling the game. I don't want rugby league to go this way. It's boring as hell.

I swear I heard snorring coming from some of the rucks where Hudds were laying on last Saturday.

I'm not saying it's cheating or illegal, it's just rubbish rugby league that's all, and I certainly don't want my team to rely on it as much as Hudds do.

Bottom line is, Saints were better at slowing the play the ball down last week! I find it boring as hell when the tackled player gets up as soon as they are tackled and catch the opposition off side all the time. Penalties all the time are boring as hell. Slowing the play the ball challeges the attacking side to break through with more skill and guile and makes it a much more even contest and far more entertaining games. How anyone could have been bored by last Saturdays game is beyond me as a Rugby League fan. A close, tight contest with players having to earn the yards and the result still in doubt until the last 10 minutes. Sounds ok to me but I guess Saints fans are used to seeing their side win by 30 points and scoring 7-8 tries a game. Well sorry, Super League is tougher than that now.

take no notice,if you were constantly acting outside the laws of the game the rfl would have called you in,all teams try to slow the opposition down,it's part of the game.
hope you win tonight and shut walters up.
