Funnily enough the two guys brought in Grix and Faz did well. Grix safe as houses at the back under a lot of pressure. Faz my man of the match. My biggest dissapointment of the night was Our two ‘big’ signings Frawley just anonymous and every try was scored down uates side. Ok first game but id hoped for positive signs and should have been better.
We seemed to be lacking energy- which is worrying. Whilst Salford had it in spades. We were barely in Salford’s half and when we were didnt look dangerous. Early days with plenty of changes to make though.
Positives Walne was pretty good imo , Frawley played a decent game and so did Uate , Ino all try were scored at that side but didn’t help these Wardle was playing next to him and he was on the wrong side , faz was half decent but the forwards were lack lustre
Uate did not much wrong at all. Probably one unforced errors - same as Grix.
Grix and Farrell were the best of a bad bunch. Right side defence absolutely woeful. Uate was one on three for at least two of the tries. Nothing he could have done about any of them.
Need to have a look back to see if it was Turner, Mellor or Farrell that was throwing the systems out. But then again, should Grix have been organising better??
Although he didn't put a foot wrong in defence, I'm disappointed how we let Farrell do as much as he was doing. I feel the senior players should have looked after him a bit more. There was a spell when Lawrence was letting him take the first hit everytime and he was coming in to finish the tackle (something he does too often for me). It should have been the other way round.

I’m not sure what decent you saw from uate, missed half as many tackles as he made, and three errors from a guy who barely touched the ball isn’t great. Incidentally Faz was our third highest tackler behind Lawrence and mellor. Made 33 missed 1- from a half that’s brilliant- and he still outshone frawley in attack for me.

You can't keep hiding behind stats though. Lawrence is claiming tackles by being second or third man in too often and still not being effective enough to ensure that the tackle area is won. He's laying on top of the ruck too often .
I've only watched the tries back once, but it looks to me like Mellor has gone missing in defence on more than one occasion - Farrell and Turner were definitely there. And his reaction to the kick through was disappointing - no attempt at chasing back.

I’m not sure what you are getting at? Lawrence put it’s a LOT of hard work- whether he’s 1st man or third he’s still doing it more than any other player in our side and laying on??? Lawrence rarely gives away penalties and didn’t concede one last night. Mellor was second highest tackler so he’s hardly going missing! Maybe if some of the others did a bit more.....
no team will win with so many injuries in a salary cap sport
just gutted i didnt put more money on salford to win!!!
another defeat next weekend in france coming up.
Agree I think it could be a few weeks until we see our first win , I think when/if we ever get a fully fit side then we should be good but until then we’ll struggle
