Anyway, shall we drag this back on topic?

As I said, offshoe payments are perfectly legal and contrary to popular belief are NOT a way of avoiding taxes, just a good way to maximse tax bands

There's nothing wrong with minimising your taxes; it's the smart thing to do.
We as individuals should all be saving at least our first £3600pa in ISA's (assuming we have it!). And any self empoyed person should be paying a good accountant to minimise their tax when handling their income (I hate PAYE!). The tax breaks and loopholes are there to be exploited until they are closed. We shouldn't blame clubs for doing the same thing in their business dealings.

Alright. I don't derail good threads.... And I think your definition of 'derail' may need addressing!

Why not £7200 ;)

As an aside there is an argument that suggests any advisor not advising their client to put the first £7200 of their investment into an ISA appropriate to their attitude to risk is not giving good advice.

As you obviously know, shares have a higher element of associated risk in the short term. That means they're typically more suited to medium-long term investment rather than a vehicle for savings that someone is likely to need to access in a few months, especially in a bear market situation like we're in now.

...We should run a little off-topic financials thread for all interested parties with a few grand flying about the place.... Gahan? :D

Aye, if it's an investment model of at least 5 years I'd probably agree with that.

If its for les than 5 years then its savings ;)

And depending on the investment risk of the stocks and shares side of a maxi ISA it could be acceptable anyway

My Share ISA is worth the same now as it was in 2004.

If you like although a return on investment would be nice though.
