Well we tried with both gigot who’s going to the NRL and Hampshire- who clearly doesn’t want to come to us. He may still do as wakey have recruited in that area already but not sure if someone who sees us as a last resort is someone we should sign.
In some respects would serve him right if he has to drop down a league for a while. Hoffman is about three years too late- he didn’t sign when we wanted him to when he still had a good few years in him!

For me, woolford needs to step up or taxi home. A sign of a good coach is to motivate and change things at half time if things are going well. The Leeds and cas games come to mind, if anything the second halves were worse than the first and too many games being scoreless as well.
Decision making - to lose mamo, rankin and Brough and replace with a full back (shipped out), an injured has been from oz and turning a potential international winger into a jibbering wreck at full back is folly.
Recruitment - a renowned full back, well we have one current my plying his trade at cas, but seems his face doesn't fit. We are hamstrung for the rest unless we can ship out or pay up but at least Edwards will bring some grunt.

You really think Rankin is the answer to our problems?

For me it was the right time to get rid of Brough. However there should have been a top class replacement lined up to come in and take on the playmaking responsibility.
I also feel that Macintosh should have stayed on the wing and Uates money had been spent on a quality fullback.
I still feel these 2 positions are the main areas that need addressing before next season. With Edwards signing if we could also add a big aggressive prop then we would also add some much needed grunt to the pack.

No I don't think rankin is the answer but if you read what I said, we are hamstrung with contracts etc and he's the best option for next season. Just shows what a desperate state we are in that position.

Current 2020 FB options
Darnell
Louis
Rankin

Available/disgruntled FBs for next year
Escare
Gigot
Hampshire
Golding
Shaul

Do we have the clout to get any of those on the list? Which would improve us?

Both Hampshire & Escare (I think back to Wigan from loan spell) officially left Wakefield.
Should we take a punt on either of them?
