Jerry got away with it last night, the first two catalans tries were abysmal. His pre match conference was equally depressing, I know the point he was trying to make about accepting they weren't good enough but he sounded as though he had no belief in himself or those around him.

Really pleased for Louis, been waiting for either of the seniors to get into open space all season, 2 players with genuine pace, but we never usually score long range tries!

Thankful for the win last night, Catalans brought half a team, but we've played with half a team all year! Will be interesting to see if there is any player movement in the off season.

Yep- bad reads from Jerry. The second one especially where he left space for Tierney on his outside when he cane in- had no need to do that as we’d tracked across and had numbered up with Catalan. He clearly didn’t have faith in his inside man and as a result we conceded.

All this emphasis on.Catalans A team !
I think it was more that Tomkin's wanted to show what they were missing after the suspension and he sure did that!(love him or hate him!
But I think the replacements also wanted to show that too as their home match displays against London and KR were abysmal so despite it being a nothing game for them -- they wanted to win IMO!
In a way we nearly shot ourselves in the foot allowing that scoot away try under the posts but on many occasions on recent seasons that would have been surrender time. So bad as the season and some individual performances have been I was pleased to see a united fight back and some determination
They did the same in the previous Dragons game at home That time it was too late but this time they got over the line and achieved survival by their efforts
For that I think some credits due instead of - after maintaining Superleague status - still getting criticism
......and I've got optimism too about both the Senior twins for the future !
Such promise let's hope we don't lose or over- coach them I can see them as a wing/ centre partnership ( they say twins think alike! They've both got their heads screwed on and feet on the ground Could be a great asset in the future and Lewis's long range effort was IMO the game changer
Well done that man! Let's hope we can take stock of the situation now and hopefully move forward again. We missed that opportunity after winning the league shield IMO .Let's hope this recent scare gives us more determination not to let it happen again - for the sake of ALL connected with the club!

He clearly didnt trust his inside men, and with good reason too.

Mellor has been awful in defence on that side all season, and Murphy was lost half the time

Jerry was trying to fix that and it wasnt working, but it wasnt his fault.
Mellor has been poor all season and somehow got away with any flack.

Giants were pretty decent all game, just the Dragons short kicks in goal were perfect and that's why we were pinned in our own half for so long, and those people criticising Seb and Matagi go back and whatch when the game turned, it was before the breakaway try - in fact it's why that error was forced.

Seb and Matagi back on at prop and the Catalan attack was back under pressure, Seb's runs and offloads led to our first try and to Leemings 40/20.

Our weakest period was when they were off the field

I’m failing to see where this idea of mellor s defence being poor comes from. His tackle success rate is as good as anyone’s- and you can’t argue that he shys away from attempting tackles as he’s the highest tackler at our club- and the 5th highest in the whole of SL in terms of tackles made. So in what way is his defence poor?
Seb and Matagi has a decent game  shame they haven’t played like that for most of the rest of the season and we wouldn’t have been in the position we were in- they’ve been poor in attack- and in defence are too slow.

Defence isnt all about making tackles, but being in the right place, pushing out when needed

Tries scored on the flanks are usually down to errors made mid field, ie back rows.

if he’s making all those tackles, who’s he having to come inside for? And who stands outside him?
