As a Hull fan I went full circle with Connor and his best position.
He started off at centre for us, but I always thought he’d be good at stand off. When he played stand off for us, I thought he’d be a good full back. His lack of pace then exposed him at full back.
After all that I think his numerous talents are best served at centre. He doesn’t have to guide a team around the park, his lack of pace won’t be as badly exposed as at full back, and he can get his winger away with miracle passes. And diffuse any bombs that are thrown his way.
He just needs to find a place in Watson’s structure. I hope he does because he can do things no other player in super league can.
Yes he can. On Friday night he gave a wonderful cut out pass to Ryan Hall to concede a length of the field try. Passed straight into touch. Seemed afraid to get involved in the physical side of the game. Had the ball taken out of his hands by Tom Opacic to concede a further try Had his usual whinge to the officials. Altogether a top class performance that had nothing to do with the position he was playing in or his lack of speed. He plays well when his team is on top but lacks bottle when the going gets tough. He can be mercurial but so often his limitations out way the undoubted benefits he brings to a team. That is not trolling it is an accurate assessment of Connor’s performance. Irregular Hoops is not known for his unbiased opinions either.
