I am grateful the mods are keeping the focus on RL. So hopefully now we can discuss this topic without distractions.

I think LR is not a good enough SH for a team that aspires to be the best. I think he is not a top SH because he has a very poor kicking game - both his long and short kicking game. This weakens us defensively because the inability to kick long into space weakens us on field position. His poor short kicking game deprives us of an important attacking weapon, it cuts our options and makes us easier to defend against. Robbo is clearly weaker passing left to right. This results in too many 'hit and miss' passes in that direction or a marked reluctance to pass in that direction. This again cuts attacking options and makes it easier to defend against us.

In some ways these deficiencies overshadow his read on a game. If a situation requires a chip kick or a 'grubber' kick or a long/fast pass l to r will it be considered? can it be executed?

His skill set may well be better suited to a hooking role in the Giants set up.

If I have got this all wrong I would be delighted to have it explained to me.

I think we have had enough Luke Robinson threads for now.

Whatever peoples critique of his skills, strengths or weaknesses we all judge things in a different way and that is part of the rich tapestry of life and Rl forums.

the only way this will be settled is when Nathan Brown shows us his hand, sends out a puff of white smoke, signs or sells a player or gives us his first teamsheet for 2010.

Either way i will be supporting the Giants whether we have Robbo , Thurston, the ugly guy from Wakefield or a baboon playing at no7 next year.
