A British RU Lion and a great capture for Leigh. Bev was a super player and a really nice guy. He moved to Leeds for more success and became GB captain in World Cup. RIP
He was a teacher when I started at Leigh Grammar. Unfortunately, he left the year after as he was signed by Leeds so I never got taught by one of my Leigh heroes. Real legend of the game.
As a Wire fan ,i always remember him as a really great goal kicker. It was a frightening couple of minutes as he excavated the pitch to place the ball on a homemade divot then usually get the goal.
A favourite player for my Dad. Thinking of all his family and close friends. I have a dream that somewhere, there is a pub full of happy departed Leythers who talk about the “good old days” and get to watch every game from the best seats in the house every week. Say Hi to my Dad Bev and rest easy.
First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can. “Up The Comics !”
