Injury is worse than first expected. He needs an op and will be out for 'months'.

Massive blow he is crucial for us in attack and so much of our best play goes through Riddy to Kes to McNally. I can't see Pownall setting up 20 tries a season like McNally would. Maybe Brierley to fullback would work better although I have no idea how good he is in that position.

Interesting that Rowley says we will look to bring somebody in to replace him. We wont find anyone of Greggs quality especially as whoever we find will know they will likely lose their place in the team when he returns.

Don't think McNallys place will be much of an issue as a ruptured LCL could be anything from 6-12 months, so worrying about what happens when he is fit is not really an issue. I say if there is someone suitable then go for them finances allowing of course. We have now lost 2 of the squad to long term injuries, add to that there has been very little news re: Matuias visa either, I really hope this is not setting the tone for the season of bad news after bad news.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!

For me play Brierley there, solves the chase/Brierley/riddy issue. In terms of bringing someone in, not sure what we have left on the cap. Difficult to see who we could bring in. The only one that springs to mind as good enough and potentially available is Morgan escare, seems unlikely though

Exactly!!! We have alot if outside backs to cover positions as well, namely Pownall, Harper, Pala, Maituia and Armstrong not in the starting 13 squad numbers.

I would like to see Armstrong to full back, or even Rangi Chase.... that might suit Chase, even though he's not the quickest. Brierley is an obvious choice....

Cant think of much worse news, than our star fullback and great attacking weapon mcnally to miss majority if not all the season. I think we must look to see who if anybody is able to be brought in, as suggested people can cover, but that is for a week or so. If your talking about 6 months plus you need a proper full back. Its just awful, the only position we dont have a ready made sub to play in that position.. I see hull were trying to sign lee smith and get him under cap, now he would be a very good stand in, if he'd come. Hope u get well soon gregg, you will be a huge loss to us.

That's bad news for Gregg. What about the guy who was covering at full back last season for saints,he,s an aussie so i don't know if we have room for overseas players.

Always sad to hear about anyone picking up a bad injury, whatever their club. Here's hoping you can come back quickly and stronger from this one Gregg.

Shannon McDonnell I think. I wouldn't mind him if he's available.
