U12s 8 v 6 Rylands Sharks
This team never fails to impress and put in a fantastic performance against a top Rylands side. This was a game in which defences were totally on top, and both sides played their part. Jordan Toker opened the scoring with a trademark try from dummy half, unfortunately the conversion went just wide and the Under 12's went 4 points up. The rest of the half saw some excellent defence from both teams as the Miners led 4 nil going in to the break. Both defences were again on top for most of the second half. However, Rylands broke the deadlock when a length of the field try put the Warrington side 6 points to 4 up. With only minutes remaining Connor Roberts collected Joseph Colliers kick to go in at the corner. Miners held out for the last set to run out winners in an enthralling contest. Try Scorers - Jordan Toker & Connor Roberts Man of the Match - Jake Winstanley Parents Man of the Match - Joseph Boardman Top Tackler - Joseph Collier Most Improved - Lewis Barton
U13s 6 v 30 Oldham St Annes
U14s 26 v 27 Wigan St Pats
What a cracking game this was. Miners got off to the worst possible start when Pats impressive loose-forward scorched in for a try but Miners soon hit back when Ashurst scooted in from the play the ball and was unlucky to convert his own try when the ball struck the uprights. After Pats stretched their lead with another try Miners continued to press the Pats line and were unlucky not to score when Prescott, under pressure from two defenders, spilled the ball over the line. A break from Wardle saw Ashurst speed down the touchline for a try. Just before half-time Ashurst should have scored a hat-trick out wide but was deemed to have hit the corner flag as he grounded the ball. Half-time score 12-10. Into the second half Miners continued to push Pats to their limit but the Wigan team stormed into the lead with 2 quick tries from Miners indiscipline. Again the yellow and blacks showed their determination and fought back with tries from Worrall,Ashurst and Mcgloughlin to level the scores with 5 minutes left on the clock. Unfortunatley for the Miners, Pats won the game with a drop goal in the dying minute showing how close this game was. Miners again played with just 13 men but what a 13 this team is shaping up to be. Pat yourselves on the back boys, you make your club, coaches and supporters very proud. MoM chosen by opposition coaches Stu Speakman.
