Leigh played St Helens in midweek game in the early 1990s and beat them. That year Wigan won the league on points difference. I think it was Steve Simms first game in charge.

There are some films on the micron video and I am trying to get hold of the DVD so that I can put it on at work, cos I work in St Helens !

Thanks

What a wet, wild & wonderful night that was.I think we were bottom, possibly with no points, and they were top unbeaten.Leigh played the conditions to perfection whereas St's got their tactics all wrong.

Incorrect it wasn't Simms first game in charge. Simms was there but it was Dennis Ramsdales win. Stu Pugsleys little kick over the line won it!

correct as Simms 'quipped' 'Why have you brought me over if you play like that' after the game.

I missedthat game due to work, but its a cracker on tape/dvd, if I had it that is

I don't forget many games !

The sad thing about that season was that we ended up in mid table but as usual we lost the best players due to financial problems in the close season and then it was downhill from there! If only Mr Higgins had let the LGH boss Bill Parkinson take over when he wanted too it could of been a whole different story
