June 2016 was actually 22/5/16 v Swinton - 4 matches for punching plus 3 for striking with knee = 7 July 2017 was 1/7 17 v Catalans - 9 matches increased to four months on appeal.

I'm not disputing that Alan, I know them to be fact. What I'm saying is the information given to the MRP which is clearly shown on his charge sheet, source RFL Disciplinary website, doesn't show 7 and 9 match suspensions. The info actually shows him painted in a better light.
Also reading the summary of CM's , which is very thorough.
"The MRP felt that contact had been made by the elbow of Mr Acton to the jaw area of his opponent"
Not a problem with that, fine leave it there. But they don't, they have to throw a spanner in the works with the last line.
"The MRP felt that a Grade E was appropriate, purely due to the fact that the contact with the elbow was not completely flush onto the head of the opponent"
He's either hit him with his elbow or not. They contradict themselves.
Don't get me wrong Reffy and not condoning what he did,but if your handing 7 match bans out based on running technique and a ref half way down the park then its substantial at best, not factual.
What Acton did was wrong and he pleaded guilty to it. But the MRP have made a judgement based on substantial evidence, which I'm afraid shouldn't warrant 7 games as 7 games should be given on factual evidence only.
The problem Acton has got, it gets worse as time passes, is the “it’s him again” factor. That is a situation that can only get worse unless he stops offending altogether. Leigh just cannot indulge him any longer, he must go.

For those of us who bemoan inconsistency in the disciplinary process, take a look at Rhys Curran's (Toulouse) suspension, from the game against London. The offence seems almost identical to Peter Mata'utia's against Leeds - and Curran has received exactly the same suspension. (4 games)
Of course, from a conspiracy viewpoint, the charge should have been dropped, then he could play against 'Fax on Sunday!!
Incidentally, I thought Curran's offered defence, in showing Bob Beswick making a similar challenge, against Toulouse, was a tad out of order!
