After many, many years of trials and tribulations (54 and counting), I’m always cautious too, but this time just feels different. Lam senior set his sights on the team hitting the straps by weeks 8-10, and we seem right on target. I now fancy 3-4 wins from our next 5, with a weeks rest for our small but very fit and dedicated squad. I just don’t see us in a relegation fight from where we are now in the table and what we are doing on the field. Time to start counting chickens Bongser.
First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can. “Up The Comics !”
If anything we should have had points out of the 2 Salford games - we were close in the first but battered them in the second of those games and came away with nothing.
Having been to the game at Wakefield last week I can say that I have not seen a poorer SL team than Wakefield were in that game - they were abject. Yes, its only a third of the season gone, yes, they are only a couple of wins behind Castleford - and i cannot wait to see how bad that team is either - but I cannot see how they (Wakey) can rescue their season and stay up. More to the point - having watched the soul searching that goes on on their own club forum, their fans already know that the game is up and are already resigned to their team going down.
So far this season, and I was at both games, the only two teams in the division that looked a notch or two better than us and who had us hanging on to avoid a battering were Warrington and Wigan. I suspect that by the end of the season Saints will probably be back in that elite grouping. For me, every other team is fair game and I can see us realistically taking points off everyone else.
Our position at the moment is not the high water mark of our season. I can see us finishing in glorious mid-table mediocrity - and that for me will do nicely. Consolidation in the division this season and next season with hopefully a number of new signings made of the right class of player and we can kick-on and go higher still.
Most of squad are signed for next season, apart from about five or six. Apparently they are Reynolds, Nisbet, Smith, O’Donnell, Ava can’t remember the other, but out of them Kai is the major one that needs resigning.

Out of Contract (according to Love Rugby League) Leigh Leopards Jacob Jones, Tom Nisbet, Ben Nakubuwai, Kai O’Donnell, Ben Reynolds, Aaron Smith, Nathan Wilde, Joe Wardle.

If IMG and the RFL want to stop looking like clowns, they need to tighten up on these loopholes. One game bans should be served properly, and Leigh should benefit from Castleford's ill discipline.
