Yes, this makes total sense. Stef Ratchford has been a wonderful servant to the club over many years, but the truth is that he is unlikely to play much this season, so it's illogical for him to remain as club captain. Stef's main role now seems to be 'great bloke to have around the place'. And that's actually not to be under-estimated, as I'm sure he can be of great help to the young lads coming through.

Hard to argue with that from a fan's eye view. Also has the benefit of being on the pitch for the majority of a game and being in the middle of the action.

Of course, what it should come down to is who has the leadership ability on the field, in the changing rooms and on the training pitch. Burgess will have the best handle on this.
