In much the same way as the Warrington Guardian, I think their plan is to make the site so unbearable with ads and pop-ups that you end up taking out a subscription to go ad-free. However, I am not (and never will be) willing to pay subscriptions for message boards or news sites, so my two options are to either suffer on or give up. At the moment it's still the former, but I admit that my patience is being sorely tested.
