I'd like to have a lil bit of a laugh.
So in the same vain of the worst plays you've ever seen.
I'd like to ask.
Excluding the obvious Russell smith call. What are the worst referee calls that you've ever seen in rugby?

Mine was a warrington vs widnes match in 2005 when were at tha Halton stadium. The referee. Who I forget who it was. Completely missed a successful drop goal from Lee Briers. Completely turning the game and I think we ended up losing as a result.

This. After so many years, I can't recall the individual calls Thompson made in that game, only that they were outrageous. They say you shouldn't speak ill of the dead, so I will leave it at that.

I'm pretty sure he went onto Hull's board, when he retired from fixing games.

Bevan should have had a hattrick in that game v Hull. The one that springs to mind was Cullen using the knees when he made no contact whatsoever, and then Davies getting penalised a further 10 yards by Russell Smith for questioning him. We all know the consequences of that one.

I wait for Eamonn McSaddened to cite Robert Hicks, Wembley 2019. He should be along shortly.

Although most of these recollections will doubtless be for incidents that have gone against us, I do also remember one time when we played Leeds at Headingley, I think it was 1991, and the great Dessie Drummond dropped the ball from about three feet high whilst going over at the corner, only for the ref (can't remember who it was) to somehow award us a try!

Chris Joynt in the GF lol. Though tbh even then, how many voluntary tackles have ever, EVER been penalised?

How about the penalty against Andy Brachek in 2005 I wanna say, against Saints when we were up 16-4 with 10 mins to go. I believe it was for not playing the ball correctly, despite that thing happening all game every game for all of time. We all know how that ended.

Don't start the voluntary tackle stuff off again.

That wasn't even the most controversial one in Saints v Bradford games either. The knock on by Withers was. He still claims he didn't touch it. The video ref decision seemed to take about 9 days.

As a decision I can't say it was the worst ever, it was very tight and far more blatant ones have been given incorrectly than that. But another one we don't need to drag up again, especially given he's recently fessed up to it being a major error.
