Just reading a thread on the pies board regarding old shirts and it got me thinking,
Im only 28 but over the years ive collected various RL memorobilia, old programmes, every leeds shirt ive ever had, bits and bats really.
And one of the things Ive gathered, from my Grandad, is an old Wire players shirt.
Just wondering If any of you old heads would know what year its from and who was likely to have worn it?
Its white with a v-neck and 3/4 length arms. The v-neck and cuffs are blue. Its got Vladivar across the front and I think the badge just says wire. Its in the loft so i cant quite remember. Its got a big blue no 4 on the back, however, it was ripped at some point and sewn back together so the 4 is slightly mis-shapen.
Any Ideas?

Judging by your description it sounds like the shirt we wore 87 to 89. From memory I think the players to have more than likely filled it would have been Ronnie Duane, Phil Blake or Joe Ropati. Its a popular shirt with Wire fans who are old enough to remember. Had a top quality side then but won nothing!

I'm sure I've still got the old Sparkomatic shirt, from the 85-6 season either in my (or my mum and dad's) loft.
I'm with Bobby Digital. The 1990 shirt is my fave (that one DEFINATELY IS in my loft). I remember ringing the club shop daily, to see if the shirt had come in. Bukta were a shower of 5h1te. I got one of the first one's, in NOVEMBER....3 months after the season started.
Also in my loft, is a signed John Smith's sponsored 2001 (white, with primrose and blue, almost looks American footballish style) shirt signed by all the squad (Langer, Nikau, Gee, etc)...given to me, by a Wid, who'd won it in a raffle...hahaha

You're absolutely right Lefty. The 1990 is a top shirt. Maybe it's because, to me, it's the Mike Gregory shirt. Mine is in the Wardrobe and I've put a fair bit of weight on in the past 22 years, but there's no chance of me throwing it away, even though I'll never wear it again.
