One of the Wolves back-room staff has tweeted the following............

'Matt King has popped in to say goodbye to all the staff, and its now time to say...The King has left the building. Good luck Matt!'

A Wire legend, the Town of Warrington will miss you Matt, thanks for all you did for Warrington on and of the field.

I took this of Matt's 1st ever Wire try in Lee Briers testimonial 4 years ago.

The top half of that pic looks very blue.
But matt will be missed and will be hard to replace.

Matt king never forgotten.

Things I learned on 11/08/12

Gareth Hock can't pass
Gareth Hock can't run
Gareth Hock can't fight

I'm assured he can snort a line of coke the size of a Mecca dauber though.

I know the the players wanted the ground to swallow them up at F/T of the Leeds defeat and wanted to get off the pitch as quickly as possible - but was it really too much to ask for a good-bye speech from the 3 departing players?
This should have been done win, or lose.
Good luck at the Rabbitohs though , Matt. I think Madge Maguire will turn a team of under-achievers into a top 4 team , given the talent that is in that squad already.

That is perhaps the most homo-erotic RL picture ever taken.

It'll be interesting to see how King adapts to the challenge of snapping the pole. He's never been a dirty player, but he'll be asked to assault exposed knee joints like they were a cooked breakfast.

Yes Matt King will always be one of my favourite Wire players. He was already one of my favourite players when he was at Melbourne Storm and I was made up when we signed him (is it really 4 years ago since we signed him).

He has definitely been a great character and good guy off the field and he dealt with a lot of flak in his first year when he was out of form and the media and other fans were on his case (but even then he scored a decent number of tries and had a few good games). Since TS has been here he has been probably the best strike player in the outside backs in any team in SL.

As a pure finisher of tries I don't think I've seen a better player at Warrington, with his athleticism for taking the high ball and his pure strength, if the ball went to King within 8 or so yards of the line it was going to end up a try.

I am becoming increasingly concerned that he is not being replaced and we have no-one able to step up into his boots, his contribution in the last three seasons has been massive.

A top player on the field and a gentle giant off it. Had the pleasure of speaking to him on a number of times. What a player. Good luck Matt, Mrs & baby King. Forever in our thoughts and all time wire team. (Matt only)
