Hope they were muzzled. Reckless owners if not. Probably only realise their responsibility when said dog chews a babies face off/kills child as they seem to do with startling regularity. Owner, probably unemployed, feckless then states in stupid bewilderment "but my Fido would not normally hurt a fly".

The most sensible post I've seen on here today. The majority of these 'devil dogs' (for want of a better phrase) seem to be owned by knuckle scraping, empty heads, who have 'nufink better to do' (sic) all day. You never see these people with a poodle, do you?

Excellent post. Staffies are brilliant dogs. I have one and they're a fantastic breed. Great temperment and fantastic around small children!

from experience though, even a "good" dog can easily turn nasty, it can take something very innocuous for an animal to snap. I'm not suggesting this is the case with all, but I've seen it happen and was horrified. though thankfully it hurt no one but itself on that occasion.
Of course they can, as can most animals. But I'm fed up with people brading them 'horrible' and 'nasty' etc. As said above, it totally depends on how they are brought up, if they are brought up by a chav to fight, then they'll fight obviously. Staffies that aren't are excellent pets.
