Just watched the highlights of last weekends practice session against the Quins and the thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is that we dont like tackling
We dont know how to get a player down to the ground quickly enough and one on one tackling is inept. The number of Quins players who spun out of a tackle. Flailing arms everywhere
You need a player at full back who can and is willing to tackle - last line of defence - we dont have one
Our friend LB runs to the blind side everytime and points for others to move to the centre.
We tackle around body and never seem to think about legs
Until we get interested in tackling our defence will always yield
Much as people are disappointed with Monas I think he has a good tackling technique - reminds a little of Alan Bateman, kind of sweeps the legs. Others should take a good look at this technique.
Also, I might add, that we have clearly missed Westwood and his tackle rate.
