Lift spirits and improve those players mentally who may be threatened with the axe.
That's probably about it until he starts his hands on coaching on Monday
Union is played by people who close airports after a bit of snow, League is played by people who would go and have a snowball fight with a 747

We can always hope, but it looks as though Jimmy will decide on team selection this week while Smithy (hehe I'm calling him smithy already) will take a more observant role til monday.
his mere presence will have an immediate effect.....they all know they are now playing for there places and wage packets instead of "i will be playing wether or not i deserve it".
them days are over now and we should now see the real steel in the squad, no hiding places anymore for the players.

Can't do much in truth, but his presence should give the whole day a lift. I was not going to travel up from Northamptonshire for the game and will do so now for the start of a new era.
I watched a 'Sweet Sixteen UK' last night, some spoilt brat learnt to do a proper rehearsed dance routine in two days, so I reckon Smith could do similar, easily.
