Can these 2 play together?
Again tonight you would hardly notice that Monaghan was playing
Briers drifted in and out but there is a big lack of creativity in our team and we seem to just be happy with playing up the middle for 5 tackles and a kick at the end
Briers' kicking on the last was an improvement today though

The first half you couldnt say Monas wasnt their, his tackling was brilliant. He got up and chased down everyone even after taking a shot to the head.
Briers was drifting in and out but I dont believe he is the top man for Wire anymore and havent done for a season or two, but we really miss him when he is off the field.
As for them playing together... No Monas doesnt seem to want to take control when Briers is around.

Smacks of Bradford under Noble 8-10 years ago. Those tactics will no longer work in Superleague.
Even though we struggled a little last season as a spectator I would much rather watch what Paul Cullen had them playing like than the 5 drives and a kick crap under lowes.
Might aswell do without the half backs and just chuck 2 extra forwards on.

It's good having a half back than knows how to throw himself about in defence but it's not really what he's paid to do.
If he couldn't tackle but was brilliant in attack you could live with it.

We would definately do better like that our halves are not doing a job, we've now got arguably the best pack in superleague with nobody to guide them round.

Briers plays best when he's constantly involved, but we seem to be playing with just the forwards on the first 3 or 4 tackles, so he's only getting it when we're looking to kick.
It's not a bad way to start the game, but we need to get a bit more expansive later on.
As for Monaghan, he should be on the bench as second hooker, 'cos he certainly aint a half back
