Tournament or not they failed miserably when up against the very best i think its a decent argument TBH...Pryce,Wellens and Gardner didn't have a single good game in the world cup...

Conversely, Morley and Peacock (although not poor like the three you named) hardly set the world alight either. We know they are better than that and I'd argue that so too are the three players you named that were rank bad.
might be a bit of that but I also think that we over-rate the NRL players as well.
Matt King - Enough said.
Wasnt Monoghan(sp) in the dream team over there before coming here?
Rauhihi - Been better this last season and a bit but not the so called world class prop from the NRL by any stretch.
Chris Flannery - Featured in the so called toughest contest in the SOO and yet (bar last night) has been average at best and IMHO is no better than Paul Clough.
Wasnt Ben Harris highly rated in the NRL and yet a pile of toss here?

Wellens(Hemmings love child) was absolutely awful and you'd be foolish to argue otherwise...

Let's all remember Paul Wellens and Ade Gardener at the last World Cup...
The sad truth is though as poor as they were - and many others went - they were the best we had. So laugh as much as you like if you think the poor state of our national team is something worth laughing at. Its a shame we are in a position where the bulk of the players have to come from 2 teams because the others aren't good enough to provide any real competition for places.
And as for the Saints Leeds game - fantastic game from a Saints POV. I wasn't impressed with the way Bailey played but haven't watched it back yet so perhaps it was just getting caught in the emotion of the game that made it seem worse. There again, I said at the time I was shocked Gilmour didn't get sin binned.
