I don’t doubt the pack was bigger, but their halves were a Warrington player who failed to perform and a Hudds player who blew hot and cold and wasn’t wanted by Ian Watson, whereas we had the England half-back pairing. Their outside backs (Newman excepted) consisted of the likes of Myler and Briscoe, whereas we keep hearing from other clubs’ fans how it was crazy for us to get rid of our backline stars like Charnley and King. As I say, on paper we were up there with the top teams. There must be something more within our culture that seems to inhibit solid, professional consistency in our performances. Let’s hope it’s fixed going forward.

Do we have any one in our entire performance team that has an established track record of winning the biggest prizes?
We only beat Leeds on rd1, when they were struggling, because they played much of the game with 12 and at a time, 11 men. Tbh, Leeds deserved to had won it.
