How the game has changed that this is centre play. For the better?

I thought King was good. It is what it is with centres these days, there are very few exciting centres out there who can create space for a winger. Players like Lyon, Gasnier, Gidley, Gleeson and the like are just not seen anymore. Even Joey Manu who can do that is being looked at as being “too creative for centre” and they’re looking at getting him on the ball more.

Got the job done last night, not much more than that. But a professional job and never looked like we were at risk, despite missing 3, 5, 7 (a stretch, granted) and 8. Its one of those boring games that is easily forgotten, but usually we make a complete dogs dinner of.

Matty Nicholson will be hoping Williams gets a rest soon, I bet he made 50 tackles again with teams looking to take some energy out of Williams and targeting that right side, but he stood up well again, great engine.

He is quite the drama queen and will stay down at the slightest bit of foul play. Brilliant lad and don't blame him as such but if he were on any other team we'd be shouting bloody murder at someone playing for penalties like he does lol.

I have to disagree here.
Didn't they say something like 14 (or was it 40?) stitches last night?
His overall size and footwork often means his head is often lower than most BUT the whole point of the new regs is to stop head high shots, so the attackers need to modify their technique.
I certainly wouldn't want to be on the end of any of the bell ringers he takes.
Faking it? Not for me.

Yep you are crazy. But it is a forum so anything goes and you can pretend to be a Wire fan.
"Thewlis is honestly a bit of a wet wipe." was another of yours. WireWireWire my ....!

For the record, I don't think last night falls into my general opinion on Thewlis. He did genuinely need to go off and get fixed up. But I'm still adamant about his general persona on field. I've been noticing it over the past year especially. He stays down at the slightest bit he cops trying to win us penalties. Don't really care, just an observation.

Totally agree.

I was surprised that the fact that King knew that he needed his passport to travel to France wasn`t listed as another positive.

Ha ha. I'm not bagging King at all this season, but I preferred RL with the centres like the ones listed.

In my view this had all the potential to go wrong. Resting our best prop, a halfback comb that has only played together once this season (one of whom was just back from a lengthy lay off, an untested youngster on one wing and a new centre/wing partnership on the other. Factor in the weather, it could have all gone very wrong.
Did no one tell SB that it was pointless asking for a favour from Myler as he still has a massive titty lip from us letting him go?

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Sport in general is going that way. Watching the RU World Cup where everything seemed to get reviewed, including after the ref had made a decision, made it difficult to watch. You can never really celebrate anything, just incase. Same with VAR. It’s a pursuit of perfection, which is garbage. Sport is meant to be imperfect.

RL was at its best where there is that bit of chaos. I know it was against us, but Bridge trying a grubber at Knowsley Road and losing by a drop goal while the hooter sounds is fantastic sport. Same with refs too, used to love it when the ref missed a bad tackle at Wilderspool and the whole stadium would erupt into a hostile pantomime.

Now it’s Toby King actually being in the top 3 or 4 centres in the league. It’s actually quite sad.
