penny cant defend well enough. i think with Johnson there kings defence will improve.
if i were king, i would feel playing with penny that you would have to defend the winger as well as the centre, but if johno goes there, there will be no doubt in my mind that he would be strong defensively, so king can concentrate on his own centre.
Agreed, after all the tripe is cut away, there is only one question that needs to be asked imo, that is "would we feel more comfortable with Johnson defending or Penny? Unfortunately for Kev i think the answer would be Johnson. If you look at where Kev stands in the defensive line he is not close enough to his centre, this disrupts the sliding defence on the left, therefore when King and the rest of the team slide to the left as the ball is put through the oppositions hands Kev has to move right in order to close the gap and get into the correct defensive position, this automatically puts him on the back foot, then he slides left with the rest of the team but it's too late by then.
Penny needs to be treated very carefully if he is to fulfil his potential. I think he needs 1st team rugby at the Co-Op Championship level to learn his trade. This will give him experience he so needs and take the pressure off him a bit.
