It was all about mistakes at crucial times; some by our players, one by the referee.
When things started to go wrong, I thought the mental belief started to drain, possibly linked to the fatigue that crept in due to the fact we had little possession from about 60 minutes onwards.

Think I was watching a different game than man of the posters on here. I am with Geordie (different thread) there are many of positives to be taken from last night.
"Lack of effort" eh? There was plenty of effort, many things to be improved upon but we will win many more this season than we loose. I am usually mortified when we loose a derby, and yes I am frustrated but also I am encouraged, our pack was awsome before it tired. Get a grip.

Funnily enough I seem to recall them going 14-0 up in the second half.
There was no lack of effort on show. I think composure, fatigue and decision making was more of a problem. And the little fact that Skintellins started to put their own play in order.

but thats the problem. Its a recurring theme and not one that should happen when you have forced a side into defending way more than you have been doing.

exactly...it should have been saints tiring after all the defending they did...but they just got stronger and stronger....like muhammed ali they just took everything we could throw at them and then just put us on our ar$e

I think we threw all we had too soon given the pressure to break the voodoo rather than biding time like Saints do so well.
