London is a big place and kids need to feel an affinity with a team. More local teams can be promoted like feck through schools. East End Urchins v West End Woofters
I'd be interested to see the reaction if London somehow did put together a successful side, started to draw five figure crowds and win trophies.
All we'd get from some people then is "bloody Cockney team, what do they think they're doing playing our game, knocking us out of the play-offs", etc., etc.

I'd be interested if a team like Salford for example playing in a massive city in the heartland of the sport in a brand new fancy stadium against, say a team thats been in recent grandfinals, and won recent challenge cups, also from the heartlands could pull in more than 5,000 spectators?
........if your interested they could ...just, but a crowd of 5186 for Salford V Hull is hardly something to be proud of.

Exactly, RL fans often delude themselves with their "greatest game" boast. Fans of all sports think theirs is the greatest game, league is not unique in that. League is a fairly popular sport in some towns and cities in the north of England, south of France, NSW, Qld, New Zealand and some of the south sea islands. I know there are some missionaries that will point to a handful of people playing it in Serbia or whatever but that proves nothing.
Super League can't support 14 teams it would be far better to bring it down to 10 and put 10 quality teams on the park in areas that actually want league and will go and support it. If that means two of those 10 are French then fair enough.

i can't see what the problem is, london away is a good day out, nice ground, decent beer and hopefully another 2 points (not wanting to be wiganesque in my predictions! not that the might Tony Smith would field a weakened side)
if it wasn't london it would be another fixture in the m62 coridoor, which in my opinion would be a backward step.
