It's funny how there's a difference between how RU supporters regard their legends and how RL supporters regard theirs.
If you talk to some union fans about Martin Johnson, Rory Underwood and Jeremy Guscott their names will be spoken about with reverence and respect. But if you go up to some league fans and ask what they think of Shaun Edwards, Gary Schofield and Martin Offiah all you will hear is a load of abuse about what idiots they all are.
I think we can already see the difference in the emerging Sam Tomkins, the unionites can't get enough of him, while league fans boo him, rile him, call him Rat Boy and slag Phil Clarke off for talking him up.
I think Sam knows where it's better to go, there's one sport followed by people that are well bred and educated and another followed by thick yobs from up north.

anyway i know its not a serious piece of journalism but its an insight from people that watch union more than I do the bit about wilkinson is interesting Sal
13 Jeremy Guscott – He whinged like a bitch in training, was always quick to pat himself on the back and has become one of the Beeb’s sourest pundits but, my God, when he was in his pomp, no one made the game look easier or more beautiful. The rugby equivalent of David Gower.
12 Will Carling – Forget the knob he was off the pitch and remember the great stuff he did on it. From straightening the line to giving England direction after a decade of abject failure, we’ve a lot to thank old Bumface for
10 Johnny Wilkinson – Ignore the naysayers and the idiots who boo his every action:
could the above be Schofield Offiah and Tomkins then.............
