People don't need to 'see where we end up at the end of the season' lol. We can see it from here as easy as we saw Hull doing us in at half time.

And when the new boss comes in and inevitably loses a couple of games on the bounce, do we sack him and get someone else in then?

Hanley and Millward would be 2. But I’m struggling on the third…

Woolf left after getting an NRL deal (won 3x SL titles)
Holbrook left after getting an NRL deal (won 1x SL title)
Cunningham was sacked but didn’t win a title
Brown left after getting an NRL deal (won 1x SL title)
Simmons was sacked but didn’t win a title (end of the 5 in a row)
Potter left after his contract expired, then joined Bradford (middle of the 5 in a row)
Anderson left after getting an NRL deal (won 1x SL title, start of the 5 in a row)
Millward was sacked (non performance related - rumoured misconduct), (won 2x SL titles)
Hanley was sacked (non performance related - tried to sell key players including Cunningham), (won 1x SL title)
McRae left after his contract expired and then joined Gateshead thunder (won 1x SL title; Super League 1)

Surely you must remember Swifty running back and clearing him out!!!

It just goes to show ,if you want silverware watch Saints.

I think one of the problems with rugby league in general is the lack of money in the game . Not necessarily for enticing imports but for funding a proper route from schoolboy/girl level through to top level sport. We have a wealth of aging players who have to be recycled between clubs & maybe the best we can hope for is to sign the right mix for success like Leigh seem to have done so far this season.

Thanks Magic Superbeatle.

I wonder if Moe Syslak or Lefty goldblatt (who liked the initial post claiming 3 coaches were dismissed) could clarify who the 3rd St Helens coach was who lost his position after winning a Grand Final(s)..?

Powell has had a full season, two preseasons and we’re 14 games into his second season. We ain’t talking a couple of games here. Don’t act like he hasn’t been given enough time and hasn’t been backed please.

He spent last season restructuring the squad by popular request from the fans and board - so he's effectively had one pre-season with the players. They're still things to improve...many, but we're joint top with none of the other sides playing consistently either. Let's get things into perspective please.

Are you sack him or keep him?

Just been reading through this thread and I wonder if some of us are guilty of letting Phil Clarke live rent-free inside our heads. Our dip is not as bad as we are making out. We have had 2 very creditable wins against Catalans away (who are now top of the league lest we forget). Could it be those wins took it out of us, so we went on to lose the next 2 both times?

Whatever, our first 7 games weren't the finished articles some are suggesting - I think we drew the second half against Leeds; we definitely went AWOL for the last 20 minutes against Cas. We were awful second half against FC. Leigh came back at us at our place. Salford had us on the ropes for a while.

If we bounce back and win the next couple in the league and do the do in the Cup at the pie-dome, noone is going to remember Magic weekend. And looking at the pics they sent back my lads aren't going to remember it whatever happens.

For me he's currently on borrowed time although I agree there is a lack of quality coaching alternatives available at the minute. I'm very concerned about our recent performances and how similar they look to last season.

His blind faith in players who are simply and never will be good enough continues to irk the fans. Minikin should be nowhere near this team, let alone starting over one of our most exciting youngsters in years; Thewlis. Dudson isn't worthy of a salary and in Mata'utia and Ratchford we have the two worst centres in the league. Furthermore, we're letting Daryl Clark go to one of our biggest rivals and replacing him with a player we deemed not good enough four years. Lastly, one of our new recruits appears to be heading home next week due to disciplinary reasons so when I hear this argument that Powell has spent a full preseason restructuring the squad, it looks to me like he hasn't done that good of a job at it to be honest.
