depends where you want to go in barcelona. the bus station isnt exactly central.
id have gone bus from airport to station. station to sants.

I thought tickets for this were 5 Euro's?

they start at €5, but are also available for €15, €25 and €40.

you realise that will take about an hour and 20 mins (without traffic) and that spanish taxis are very, very expensive?

I've got the bus last 2 times i've been there for England. They run according to the Ryanair schedule. Was about €12 I think and took about an hour and a half

Personally speaking car hire is a very good option. Ryanair are in partnership with Hertz. I've had hire cars for two of our fixtures; firstly a Vauxall Astra diesel (as there was four of us) and secondly went for a Renault Clio or similar (as there was only two of us). The 'or similar' was a Mercedes B class diesel. One thing I would suggest is if Hertz offer you 'insurance complete' (no excess) then take it. I was behind two Wire fans who had to pay €420 for a small dent on the bumper of their car. Was talking to the gentleman in question who asked for a Mondeo or similar & got a people carrier.
