Last night was the fewest points Wigan have scored in a league match this season which puts into perspective all that panicking about our defence in recent weeks. Leeds are the only team to beat us since 11th April!
Good stat that. I think in fairness the conditions helped a little when it came to defending our own line however I guess they also resulted in us being put under some serious pressure particularly early on.
^^^^^^I don't think we even really "fired" in that period. Some pretty average performances but we still won. Our consistency has been superb. I.M.O proof that defense wins matches. The key last night was that we did not panic in the first twenty when we could barely hold the ball. Wigan couldn't take the advantage. That was partly down to Wigan but a huge amount was due to our defensive effort.
Smith has got the consistency we all craved. Can we add to that by beating our peers at the top of the table regularly? Can we fight a war on two fronts (cup & league?) Can we hit peak form during the playoffs?
