The steak & Brains pie is a belter, the food in there is a lot, lot better than your average Wetherspoon's, I must say. All the rooms are en suite and well furnished, while they will happily let you take your drinks up to your room/the Lodge reception once the pubs shut; we were in the reception til 4am last season with various takeaways and pre-planned carry outs

I've booked a night in Cardiff at the brand new Travelodge in the Bay. Lunch in the Bay, then train over to Bridgend, match, train back, night out in Cardiff.

same day return coach travel £25 return per person

Going down on the Friday, staying with relatives near Aber (Mid Wales) 30mins from Bridgend and then coming home on the Sunday.

Been to bridgend with the army it a dump.Maybe been with the welsh guards put me off. lol

Were are the majority of people staying, Cardiff or Bridgend.

Obviously Cardiff means getting a train or driving to the match but it is a great city, Bridgend means your closer to the match but i believe the place is a dump.

Fans meet up say around 1.30pm in the wetherspoons bar in the town centre, then onto the Celtic club before the game, the back to there after the game, then onto the bars in Bridgend town centre, most open until 2am.

I can't believe you're not dropping into Monmouth, there's only 10mins difference and it's on the same road. Would have sorted out your pub meal venue an' all.

when i was in the army i had a very amerous encounter with a girl from monmouth whose dad was a giant of a man who worked down the mine!

if i remember rightly monmouth has millions of pubs, including one called the robin hood!

This isn't really a direct response to the OP, but it's a question about Bridgend.

I'm considering going, I don't usually travel to away games, and if I do it's usually by train, however, I fancy going to this one but I'm not really sure how it all goes down, if you get me?

What's the club's travel like? Does everybody get drunk on there? Is anybody else getting there via train or whatever?

Club coach's are boring, you cant drink and it's there and back, Ste's coach is better and you can drink, Al's coach is the same but is an overnight stay.
Train is Warrington to Crewe to Bridgend and i think Ash's is going on the train.
