I was thinking the same thing. Briers is someone who has stayed with the club, through thick and thin and had a testimonial at the club. To stay at the top as long as he has takes real commitment and work.

To be honest, there is something about him that just doesn't click for me. I've said before on here for a couple of years that I just can't see Wire doing anything while he's still with you.

that's irrelevant to him deserving a good send off and to the brilliant service he has given to the club if you can't see that then you need to rethink your attitude mate

we are warrington fans, he has spent pretty much all his career here, broken all sorts of club records, entertained us week in week out

regardless of whether or not he is right for the club anymore he will go down as a warrington legend... anyone who thinks anything else should be ashamed of themselves in my opinion

.....That statement is a total insult to real legends like Brian Bevan and Mike Gregory.....like the term 'World-Class', we seem to band around the description 'legend' far too easily nowadays.

I'll give him 'loyal servant', but 'legend'??....Not a chance.

in my opinion ten years service and no trophys or finals apperances tells it own story.

we weren't exactly awash with trophies during mike gregory's time at club but he is (rightly) adulated by the fans because of what he did and that was make watching warrington really enjoyable, which is what lee briers has done too imo

Hope I don't sound patronising but how old are you??....I'm hoping you are about 14, and so are just using the term 'legend' in a modern day speak type of way..

GB captain, outstanding try against the Aussies in their back yard. Beat the Aussies in Aus whilst captain.

Led us to a number of finals and would have won much more if it wasn't for the fact that Wigan were full time whilst the rest of the league were part timers.

Well, he basically spent his whole career with us....was captain for quite a long spell, leading us out at Wembley, and giving one of the best Challenge Cup final performances in memory, despite being part of an outclassed side...was an established international....actually captained GB, which I don't believe many Wire players can lay claim to...

I agree lee briers might not be a legend but he has given wires over 10 good years through the bad and some good he has even had chances to leave for other clubs so the guy is alright in my books
