I missed the first play off semi against saints abroad, watching on a dodgy stream and missing that Waterhouse try.

Wigan cup semi was amazing, but for me as a standalone game it has to be Saints away in 2018 - unfancied, backs to the wall, late try, limbs in the away end. Jon Wilkin in tears in his post-match interview, marvellous.

I don't think anything will ever beat the 2009 CC semi. After Hicks' try, there were grown men in tears near me.

Wigan 2009. Prior to this season I had been to every semi we had been in from the 2004 CC onwards other than the BCD one in 2020.

This season I'm missing both!

I have been to every final we've been in from the 1995 Regal Trophy onwards, so fingers crossed I'll be extending that run next week.

The 2009 CC and 2018 playoff semi mentioned above are the top tier. I don't go back far enough for that Oldham one but have always heard we got a dodgy decision to win that one.

Honourable mentions go to the home playoff semi vs Saints in 2016 and the cup semi against Hull in 2019. Both very nip and tuck games against good sides.

2016 was when Ratchford was at the peak of his powers and he was possibly the best player in the league during the latter half of that season. I watched that semi in a London pub, and the only other people watching the rugby were the worst kind of sneering Saints fan who took the result with all the grace you can imagine.

Oh yes had there been a video ref then Oldham would’ve got tonked at Wembley instead of us.

One recollection of that evening back in Warrington was of chatting to a buzzing Mike Gregory who was bladdered having a drive of a Rolls Royce (think it was the chairman's) outside the Parr Hall with a few players in the back. Magic times.
