There needs to be a re-think & it needs to be made public. The last thing that the game needs tonight is a game changing red card for an accidental touch of the head (as happened v Hull) or for high tackles to be ignored because of the game being such a major event.
Red cards ruin games. To protect players Penalties & Yellow Cards should be given for accidents (both can be scrutinised later ... and further sanctions made). Sending players (with red) off for accidents is not the answer. Wayne Barnes (RU Top Ref) used the term "rugby incident" for these accidents. There has to be realism that in such a physical game accidents happen. I agree with John Wilkin (Sky) ... we have got it wrong & there needs to be a change or it will ruin our game.
ADDITION * Apparently it is thankfully being played under NRL Rules Tonight. My point is still relevant though ... we need a re-think or we going to ruin too many games needlessly.
