Am I not right in thinking that Briers did not play in several games at the end of last season when injured and I dont recall Monas being brilliant then either!!

Indeed, plus Briers didn't play part way during the season which started at Cas away but Monas came back for the next game but Briers didn't return against the Quins and had a shocker.

Briers is a half back, Bridge is a half back. Monaghan is a hooker. Play people in their positions (unless their surname is King)

I've never really wanted to see Monaghan at hooker before, I've felt that was to be avoided, but it's now obviously not working with him in the halves, and arguably his best form (over a sustained period) was at hooker for Manly so he needs to go there. If he doesn't go well there, we have two pretty good hooking options, so he can be told that he won't be in the seventeen, although I do wonder whether he'd be too bothered by that 'threat'. He may be a halfback, well no, he IS a halfback, but he's a halfback that isn't producing in SL right now, and hasn't for a long while, so a positional change should be tried, if this doesn't have the desired effect, he doesn't warrant a place in your seventeen.

In terms of the Reserves, they've scored over 110 points in two games, so somebody must be doing alright, one of our halfbacks must be playing half decent to rack up those number of points, get one of those lads training with the first team, as another visual aid to our incumbant halves, Lowes should be showing them that he is willing to give their jumper to somebody else.

Anybody know much about O'Brien, the lad that plays scrum-half for the ressies?

Maybe worth a shot on the bench if he's good enough, with Monaghan switching from 7 to 9 like Leuluai does for Wigan.

It's easy to pick on the imports, but at the games I've been to this season we have been missing 2 (that's TWO) half backs. At least Monaghan has put some tackles in. Briers seems to think he has a God given right to play regardless of form, and in the past maybe we haven't had any other option. But now seems like a great time to look at other options, and I'd drop the petulant one and try other combinations. (But please don't let him go near the reserves - they have a good team spirit and we'd like to leave it that way!)
